OUR HISTORY

Clayton McKay is a well-known, and well-respected name in the town of Plymouth and surrounding areas, but some of our newer customers may not realize that it is actually the combination of two different names which came as the result of a 2021 merger of Rick Clayton Home Services LLC and McKay Plumbing, Inc.

McKay Plumbing was established in 1973 by Plymouth native, Phil McKay who grew the company and its reputation for quality, dependability and community service for nearly 50 years. Rick Clayton started his own Plumbing business in Plymouth after attaining his Master Plumber license in 2004. He later expanded to include HVAC and Electrical in his successful home services business.

When Phil retired in 2021, Rick purchased the business and preserved the McKay name as a testament to Phil and in honor of his legacy.

A LOCAL, FAMILY BUSINESS

When the two companies merged, nearly every single employee from McKay Plumbing came over to join Rick and remain part of the team of 30 here at Clayton McKay to this day. Phil’s daughter, Amy is our office manager and Phil’s grandson recently joined as an a apprentice representing the third generation of McKay’s connected to the business. Though many businesses say they have a family culture, it’s obvious to everyone who does business with Clayton McKay that it’s actually true in our case. We are a team that genuinely cares about one other, our customers, and our community.

Two hours after I called them indicating that I had a leak in my bathroom someone was here. It was somewhat complicated in that the leak was coming from an upstairs bathroom. However, Rob was able to diagnose the issue, especially since it potentially involved, shutting off the water to my entire condominium building. He was able to track the leak to a relatively innocuous problem within my unit, so we did not need to involve the whole building. As of yet I have not received the price, but the promptness and the professionalism displayed makes that a very distant second consideration to using this company

The brilliant tech Adam found an issue with my system because he is thorough and doesn't rush through inspections. It was covered under warranty, but I would have had a miserable summer if he hadn't been alert. Adam trained Kim and together they make a great team. In an emergency, the response is immediate! He trouble-shot our AC unit and listened to our description and ultimately resolved the issue. In addition we decided to take advantage of the annual maintenance program available through the company.
